Made with Love | December Layout

Hello everyone, I am back with another layout post for MWL. This month, I got to play with Bo Bunny's Merry and Bright Collection as well as Carta Bella's Christmas Wonderland collection. Both these collections were really a joy to work with.

I started with a white-based background to complement the overall festive bright colours that were present in the collections. Then came building up the layers with patterned papers, and then placing my photos on top of these layouts and to finish off with placing embellishments on the layout (my favourite part). The best way to layering would be to ensure that there is enough texture and depth, so as to ensure the overall layout has a more 3-Dimensional feel.

When working with embellishments, try to mix a mixture of big and small elements together, creating clusters here and there. Find creative ways to present your title using stamps? That's exactly what I did and created my quick little title of the place I have been dying to visit in Seoul.

To complete the layout, I sprinkled some gold paints and this helped to tie in the festive occasion all together. Ahhh! I cant believe that Christmas is coming!

I hope that you enjoyed this post as much as I had doing up this layout.
May this festive occasion bring much joy and happiness to you and your family.

Till then, I will see you in my next post!

MWL | Oct Layout - Snow

Hello all, I am back with another post for Made With Love this month. For the next few months, the MWL designers will be sharing more about themselves and their works. Please visit their blogs to find out more. This week, it is my turn.

1) Who am I ?
I am a teacher , teaching Geography and Social Studies in a secondary school. I have been doing it for 7 years. I am a civil servant by day and what keeps me sane are the quiet moments I get to scrap during my free periods.

2) What is my creative style ?
I would say soft, clean and streamlined. I like finding a balance in composition and style in the layouts I make. I like my layouts to be pretty and femanine layouts , emphasing on minute details.

3) What inspires me ?
Pinterest!

4 What I love about being Singaporean ?
Multiracial. Safe. Food!!!!

5) What do I wish for ?
This sounds like a question that they would ask for all beauty pageants. In the words of the main lead in the movie, Miss Congeniality... ' World Peace!' (Nah! I am kidding)

I wish for good health and happiness. The world is everchanging and change is one thing that is constant. You have the power to be happy. Choose it.

This month, I got to play with the latest Echo Park ' I Love Winter' Collection. Christmas is around the corner and every year around this time, I take the opportunities to scrap some of the past Christmas-related events that have occured ,  to remisnice on the good old memories. Stay tune for more future Christmas layouts on this blog!

I wanted to document these photos in particular as it was the first time my mum and I got to see snow. It was end winter and we made use of the remaining snow left on the ground to make our first-ever snowmen. It was such great fun!

This inspired the overall theme of the layout - snow! To begin with, I chose a silver polka dotted patterned paper as my base. I find that having a neutral background is always helpful as it gives more avenues to pile on brighter coloured papers and embellishments.

A trick that I love to use when it comes to layering embellishments would be to place patterned papers or sticker underneath the particular embellishment. This helps to ground the embellishment more and provides more depth and texture. Take for example the snowman sticker below. By placing a flat sticker behind it provides more continuity, vibrance and volume to the overall layout. Dont be afraid to use your pop dots too as they provide more dimensional-effect !

That's it from me today. Till next time, have a good week ahead!

MWL SEPT LAYOUT | Love Being A Girl

Hello everyone! I am back with another monthly post for Made With Love. This time around, I got to play with the latest Crate Paper's Cute Girl collection. Everything in this collection screams 'my style!' and I got to scrap it with one of the photos that I have been wanting to scrap about - my nieces.

I enjoy spending time with them and bringing them out on trips to the park, indoor playgrounds and shopping. It's my way of bonding with them, having conversations, catching up on their hobbies and school life. It's all good for me. It makes me thankful that I am a girl too and that I can relate to a lot of things that they are going through, as children.

So how did I put this layout together? I would say start with a neutral background, especially when you are dealing with bright whimsical colours. Then, have a good mix of cardbord pieces mixed with flatter pieces of patterned papers. It provides a good balance while providing some 3D effect here and there.

To add on some personalised touches, I added my caligraphy to the word 'being' to mix it out with my other alaphbet letters. This adds interest and completes my overall title. I am one that loves to add enamel dots and phrase stickers before I call it 'complete' as these minute details matter to me.

That's it for today.
Have a good weekend ahead.

MWL JULY LAYOUT | Disneyland HK

Hey all, I am back for another month to share the layout I completed for MWL this month. I got to work with the latest Echo Park's Magical Moments collection and it was such a fun collection to play with.

As you can see , the collection screams all things 'DISNEY'! While I was doing this layout, I kept humming 'It is a small world after all.. X10000'.  Haha. I didnt want to go too overboard on the Disney theme and kept things simpler with a neutral brown background to contrast against this striking 'cameras' patterned papers.

Thereafter, I did some simple layering with the phrase stickers and some small accents to highlight certain areas in the layout. In particular, I used my typewriter to do some journalling to jot down my thoughts about Disneyland.

If you dont know, I have been to Disneyland 6 times in total. Each time I go, I feel immensely happy to relive my childhood memories of characters, musicals and songs that I love. When I teach about this topic of theme parks in tourism, I mean it when I say that theme parks are truly catered to the young and old. It's one of the rarest time when it's alright to act like a young child over again.

This collection is indeed one that is truly versatile. I am going to try to use it for other photos that are non-disney related. For now, I will enjoy reminiscing on memories I had and I cant wait to go back again.

Have a good week ahead.

MWL MAY LAYOUT | Baby Samuel

Hey all, I am back with another post for this month. These two months have been an exceptionally happy one, with the arrival of my new nephew, Samuel. Hence, it has all been about scrapping as many baby photos of him as possible. He is growing way too fast and he certainly looks different every single day.

It has been challenging when it comes to scrapping about boys. My usual pretty style doesnt seem to match the masculine side that I want to portray. But i have been making it work, to just have fun in cooperating embellishments that match the background colour and the photo. It is all about exploring what works for you and what does not. The process can still be fun if you care less about the nitty-gritty.

Who says we cant incooperated cutsy and pinkish items? I find that they still work as they match the overall theme and photo. :D

This is how Baby Samuel looks like now. I got to remember that this is how he looks at Week 8. This was how he looked when he first came out. What a difference !

I will be back next month with another post. Till then, have a good weekend ahead.

MWL Layout | Memories Together

Hello. I am back with another blog post sharing my latest layout for Made With Love. I recently bought a new photo printer and I have been fevently printing lots of photos. It was so hard when my old printer died on me and running to the store to get photos printed is such a hassle. Glad to have the luxury to print from home again!

Here is the layout completed.

I have been loving the use of bold colours lately. What better way to do so from my kit this month. This month features papers and embellishments from Maggie Holme's Bloom collection, American Crafts and We R Memory Keepers.

When I am working with bold pattern colours, I like to mix them with neutrals. A white background is one example. And if you look closely, I backed up some of the embellishments pieces with vellum paper and washi tapes so that they are not overpowered by these bold prints.

What's left are smaller embellishments that I like to use to balance the composition of the page. The addition of phrase stickers and star chipboards help to extend the length of the page and bring the attention of your eyes to the center of the page.

MWL | FEB layout

Hey all, it's my turn on the Made With Love 's blog today. Today, I am sharing a layout that I did for Valentine's Day. Using my kit, I used mostly papers and embellishments from the latest Crate Paper's Hello Love Collection.

This was my first time doing a layout for J. A simple gift to celebrate the special day with someone. I started by using a neutral white background so that the bold colours from the embellishments and papers could give a bigger contrast. To top it off, splashes of black paints, black-based phrases or wordings can be used to keep the whole layout more balanced and neutral.

It can be hard to work with pinks and reds when it comes to gifting to an opposite sex. But I find that special occasions like Valentine Day are the best time to do so. It is the perfect opportunity to go all girly and mushy as the occasion calls for it.

Be back next month.
