MWL DEC LAYOUT | Today

Hey all,

So much has happened since my last post. Well, I got married recently and these last two months have been one hectic ride of my life. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I am glad that we have the rest of the life to look forward to.

With that said, we just got back from our honeymoon and I am sure it is no surprise that we chose Hong Kong, my favourite city in the world as our 1st choice. We stayed in a really cool hotel this time around and right outside our hotel lies a really cool graphic wall. I had to take some OOTD shots to remember this memory.

This month, I worked on the layout using the Crate Paper's Oasis Vellum Die Cut Sheet and the Dear Lizzy Star Gazer Collection. I cut the vellum sheet apart and aligned the pieces in a linear fashion , creating a grid pattern with my photos. Tip : Adhere the vellum sheets in area where there are wordings and coloured areas to minimise the appearance of adhesives peeking through.

To vary the textures further,  I mixed some of the vellum sheets with patterned papers. This would ease the embellishment process later.  Choosing some of these pieces as focal points, I used a mixture of big and small embellishments, matching the overall colour scheme of the layout.  Even though the embellishments are not travel-related, do not be afraid to use them as they are versatile and can be used to meet an story that is being documented.

I love how this layout turned out and I am looking foward to scrapping more during this month.
Till then, I will see you next month

MWL October Layout | Jolly

Hey all, I am back with a new post this month. Glad to be working with some Christmas collections this month. It has never too early to start scrapbooking on past Christmas traditions. One in particular would be the daily treats that K and B gets to open for each day, leading up to the 25th of Dec (Christmas). I had this since two years back and each year, I would go to Muji and get pre-packed candies for Christmas.

This month, I got to work on a gold and black theme using the Kaiser Craft's Mint Wishes Collection and MME's Joyful collection.  To mute the tone of the layout, I used my photo editor and made the photo slightly monochromatic.  I did the same, for the choices of patterned papers and embellishments. To mute the colours slightly, I painted across them in white too.

I am all about the small details. To complete the layout, I opted for some pen works and a white title with its backing in tact. Staying through the overall theme of black and gold, it was important for the little elements to complement this theme. The three little houses stacked next to one another is probably my favourite section of the layout. Love how these Christmas trees are lined up in front of the houses!

That is it from me. I am glad to have tried something out of my usual scrapbooking style. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it.

Till then, I will be back for my next post.

MWL AUG LAYOUT | Remember This

Hey all, I am back with another post for Made With Love. This month, I got the chance to pick out my own products that I would love to work on.

I came across the Jen Hadefield's Heart of Home collection and fell in love with the papers and embellishments. This collection 'screams' me as I am all about pastel and sweet colours. To put this layout together, I focused on the layering of the embellishments next to my focal point, the photo.

Building layers on your layout is a fun but tedious task. This is how I approach my layering techniques.

1. It is important to balance out and vary your patterns of your patterned papers. Mix up different prints with a neutral-coloured cardstock or ensure the prints are a mix of bigger prints and smaller prints.

2. Embellishments - do not place an element simply on your layout. Back it up with a small sticker or a patterned paper for more layered look. Stack embellishments behind and in front of each other for a continuous pattern. Some embellishments can be placed 'flat' on the layout while others should be raised with some pop dots for more 3-Dimensional look.

That's about it for this post. I hope you find these tips useful.
Be sure to check back next month for a new post.

MWL July Layout | Girls just want to have Sun

Hey all, I am back with another post for this month featuring a layout done for Made With Love. During the last school vacation, my nieces had a 3 days 2 night stayover at my house. It was such a lovely time catching up with them, bringing them out for nice lunches and spending good quality time together. One of our favourite 'must-dos' would be to walk out to our nearest supermarket, get some ice creams and indulge in this sweet goodness.

This month, I decided to opt for a non-patterned paper challenge. Using a white cardstock only, I created this background by using the Pink Paislee Adhensive Backed Paper. It has a sticky-adhesive backing so I randomly fussy cut a pattern of my choice and adhered it on the white cardstock.

The vibrant background ensured that the remaining embellishments were kept at a minimal. Using just decorative brads and cardboard stickers from the Echo Park collections, I filled them in at random places of the layout to give more depth and contextual layers. Lastly, I used my favourite Tattered Angels's Cherry Blossom Mist and dropped blots at two corners of the layout. I thought it complemented the dripping effect of a melted ice cream. Haha.

That's it for today. Hope that you found these tips useful. I am really happy with how this layout turned out to be.

MWL June Layout | Do More of What Makes You Happy

Hello all. Thanks for dropping by the blog today. It is time to share the layout I did for Made With Love this Month. This month, I got my hands on the latest collections from Simple Stories, American Crafts and Heidi Swapp to play with.

I was glad to start working on this layout as I have been wanting to scrap about our recent trip to National Gallery Museum. To me, that's the best kind of dates and I simply love exploring museums and looking at the wonderful artifacts of history and culture. It was my 3rd trip to the museum but was so glad to be doing it with J for the first time.

I wanted to portray a more vibrant and colourful outlook since the photos taken were rather neutral. I used the Hello Lovely Collection Play Cards by Simple Stories and randomly scattered them on the layout to layer my photos and embellishments.

The layout was quickly put together, taking the path of a more linear and boxy outlook. Smaller bits of embellishments were placed in between empty spaces and to end it, I did some quick journaling using my trusty typewriter.

That's it for today. Be sure to check out Made With Love today. They are having a great sale this month and I am sure we are all looking forward in getting some more scrapbooking supplies.

Going to use the remaining time during my June Holidays to scrap too.
Till next month, have a great week!

MWL APR LAYOUT | Our Love is His

Hey all, I am back with another post to share on this month's post. This month, I got to play with products from Heidi Swapp and American Crafts' Hazelwood line. Recently, J and I had our pre-wedding photoshoot and we received the photos. We were all too excited and I decided it was high time to start scrapping. Perhaps to display this layout on the actual day? We will see.

The lovely flower die-cuts were something I wanted to use extensively to complement the photo. I randomly placed them in the center of the layout, spreading them out so that they will be spaced out to cover gaps and spaces in between. I also fussy cut some more flowers from one of the Hazelwood's line for extra layers and volume.

To fill in the rest of the gaps, I used small embellishments such as the enamel dots and heart chipboard. The rest of the layout was kept simple. With some remaining phrase stickers and a title, the layout was complete.

That's it for today. I am looking forward to scrapping more this long weekend. Do drop by at Made With Love as all supplies and products are still available.

Till next month.
Have a good week ahead

MWL Mar Layout | Kate

Hey, I am back from another post to share about my MWL layout for this month. I was challenged to take up the Echo Park Papers' Once Upon A Time collection, which was a collection that had a whimsical vibe as it was all things DISNEY.

As this collection had a lot of purplish elements (!!!), the first thing I did was to scan through my photo collection and ensure that the photo chosen would match with this collection. I found an old photo of Kate and decided to scrap about it.

She is such a girly girl and she loves to read books and play dress up. I was sure to place elements that represented her personality.

Do you notice that the white cardstock was painted with some pink paint? I wanted the background to blend into the embellishments more thus, I decided to paint at certain areas and it turned out so much better. I simply swiped my brush from left to right to give a more random and subtle vibe.

Thanks for dropping by. Be sure to check out this collection at Made With Love today. I cant wait to see what I will do with the remaining leftovers I have from this collection.

Have a good week ahead.

Made With Love | January Layout

Hey all, I am back for another post today. This time around, I got a chance to play with the latest Carta Bella's Flora Collection. This collection is simply beautiful and I absolutely love the outcome of what I did.

This layout was quickly put together with journaling cards that was featured in the collection. I absolutely love journaling cards as they are a great way of filling up empty spaces as well as they serve as great decorative items.

As you can see, I chose to leave some of the journaling cards that I placed in its original state.  For some others, I kept the embellishments to a minimum, depending on the space available. Choosing smaller embellishments help as they fill gaps without being too cluttered.

As for journaling cards that had more space available, I chose to embellish them with alpha stickers and bigger embellishments to help convey the story of the photo. They turned out beautiful.  Journaling cards are one of my favourite ways of putting a quick layout together and I like how it makes the process a lot easier especially when there is limited time during the week.

That's all for today.
Till next time, have a great week ahead.
